COPS Grant Final Graphic w_Logo

In 2020, Milwaukee recorded its most violent year in history, with homicides DOUBLING to 189 victims and non-fatal shootings increasing 64% to over 700 victims. Despite the record violence, the city cut 60 police officers in 2020 and is planning on cutting 120 officers in 2021.  Milwaukee will lose an additional 30 officers if it rejects a $10 million federal COPS Grant.  In January, the Milwaukee Common Council will vote to either accept or turn down the free federal money to further reduce the police force. For a safer Milwaukee, please call or email the Milwaukee Common Council and let them know you support the COPS Grant to retain 30 police officers in Milwaukee.
