No Better Friend Corp. Hosts Fifth Stop on the ‘Backing the Badge and Building Bridges’ tour in Wausau

WAUSAU, Wis. – No Better Friend Corp. hosted our fifth stop on the ‘Backing the Badge and Building Bridges’ tour last night, August 19, 2021, at the 400 Block in Wausau, WI.

Our featured speakers for the event included No Better Friend Corp. Volunteer President and CEO Kevin Nicholson; Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks; Clark County Sheriff Scott Haines; Radio Show Host Joe Giganti of the Regular Joe Show; Fond Du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney; and University of Wisconsin-Madison Political Science Professor Ryan Owens.

Our speakers at the event highlighted the names of several law enforcement officials who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.  Chicago Police Office Ella French, Wisconsin State Trooper Trevor Casper, Detective Jason Weiland, and others had their stories shared to the crowd of 130.  Sheriff Parks also brought up the recent shooting of Oconto Falls Police Officer Nicole Blaskowski – who fortunately is in recovery from her injuries.

“I am very blessed that I am the Sheriff in Marathon County.  The reason I say that is because I have 218 people who go out every day to give their all for you,” said Sheriff Scott Parks at the event.

Special thanks to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit for grilling brats and hamburgers for the evening and to all who attended!  Our Wausau stop was the fifth stop on our ‘Backing the Badge and Building Bridges’ tour.  The first four stops were in New Berlin, La Crosse, Green Bay, and Hudson.  You can listen to Kevin Nicholson’s interview with Meg Ellefson on WSAU Feedback prior to the event in Wausau here.
